Tweenager film Diary of a Wimpy Lid hits too close to home
tweenager-film-diary-of-a-wimpy-lid-hits-too-close-to-home
Diary of A Wimpy Lid (and it’s sequel) were hilarious movies. Yeah, they were targeted to tweenaged girls and boys, but I found it uproariously funny. Perhaps it’s because it uncovered some middle school memories that I can laugh at … now, anyway. Let’s be honest, no matter how many memories I try to stuff between now and middle school, some will haunt me to my dying day.

Like that time I dropped my lunch tray in the cafeteria and got a standing ovation.

Or, when someone threw a board at me with “Keith loves Trina” written on it.

Wall sits for an hour for talking back to my P.E. teacher.

Getting my glasses knocked off and broken … and then having to wear them like that for months.

Running for class president and getting, like, 7 votes.

Getting depantsed in the hallway while talking to Carissa.

Falling asleep during 2 to 3 hour phone calls with chatty one-sided girlfriends.

Or, that time Buddy McCurdy physically prevented me from entering English class so I would get a tardy, resulting in gum scraping at Saturday School.

And then crying about it in front of the whole class …

Voice cracking.

Or wetting my pants because the school has some incredibly stupid can’t-go-to-the-bathroom-during-class policy …

Ugh. I’m not feeling so cheerful anymore.

I’m supposed to mention how the lid ties in with this calendar image, but I don’t really feel like talking anymore.

Visit www.containerandpackaging.com/wallpaper to see ALL 12 of this year’s calendar images as well as images from 2011, 2010, and 2009.

What happened to you in middle school?
