Tin Product Testing Part 4: The Rest of the Rounds

tin-product-testing-part-4-rest-round-tins
I finally got to the last four round tins. I was starting to get a stomachache from nibbling on all of my testing materials, and I had little <span style=text-decoration: line-through;>vultures kids wanting to eat all of the cookies and candies. I figured I'd better get the testing done quickly before they attacked. The last four round containers to test were the 8 oz. deep, the 8 oz. flat, the 10 oz. flat, and the 16 oz. deep tin.

8 oz. Deep Tin

I will admit that I was surprised at how accurate the measurements were for this container. I got exactly one cup of M&Ms ® into it. I couldn't handle counting them, but I'm not sure how many people are really going to be counting that many M&Ms ®. I did count how many Hershey Kisses ® that I could get in it with the lid on, and I got 35. It also fit exactly one cup of rice. When I measured its height with Oreos ®, I found it to be four full cookies plus one wafer tall.

8 oz. Flat Tin

Here came a surprise for me: all of the measurements for this flat container were the same as the measurements for the 8 oz. deep tin except for the height! I fit one cup of M&Ms ®, one cup of rice, two sticks of butter, and 35 Kisses ® fit into it (once again, separately). Impressive! Its height is two Oreos ® plus one wafer.

10 oz. Flat Tin

This is a pretty wide, flat tin. With the lid on, a Hershey Kiss ® is its exact height. It is also the same height as exactly two Oreo ® cookies. I could almost get six cookies into the bottom of the tin. I think if I'd taken a bite out of one, I'd have been able to get that last cookie into the bottom. It also held 1 ¼ cups of M&Ms ® and rice and 53 Kisses ®.

16 oz. Deep Tin

I ran into some problems with the measurements of this tin. I poured my whole bag of M&Ms into it, only to discover that someone(s) had been sneaking nibbles of candy during the testing! The bag was supposed to have two cups in it, but it was missing some, so I had to skip this method for measuring. So I resorted to the rice method, and got a scant two cups of rice into this tin. It will also hold 62 Kisses ®, and is the same height as five full Oreos ®.

I realized I still have the rectangular tins to measure, so onward to those before more M&Ms ® disappear!
