Sifter Product Testing Part 3

sifter-product-testing-part-3
The last type of sifter in this three-part series is the flip-top sifter lid. I tested two of these lids to determine their functionality. Getting the right kind of sifter is critical in a successful user experience when it comes to dispensing your product.

L454 Sifter

The L454 survived the manufacturing process without incurring too much confusion. It knows that it is a sifter by day, lid by night. Or all work in front and party in the back? Nope, that's a mullet. I'll avoid testing mullets. Back to the lid. This lid has a flip-top lid that, when opened, exposes five holes. These holes are 0.313 in diameter. That means that they are larger than the holes found in Part 1's L630Y. I thought I'd try chocolate chips again. Once again, the chips did not fit through this sifter, so I had to eat them instead. I found that the same products that fit through the L630Y (cloves, dried black beans, split peas, etc.) also worked with this sifter. That is, except for the measuring spoon, since this lid does not have a hinged spoon opening. Overall, this sifter is great for larger products.

L456 Sifter

Next, I moved on to the L456. This is a big lid. The whole lid is more than 2.5 in diameter. It has seven relatively small holes, each measuring 0.202 across. I pulled out the smaller testing materials again. This sifter is great for powders and small spices, including peppercorns, chili flakes, and sesame seeds. I nearly set this lid aside when I took a closer look at it. What I saw nearly took my breath away: this lid has a hidden hinge that lifts up the sifter holes to make a spoon opening! I was stunned. So this large lid not only works great for small spices, but it also lets me scoop out larger quantities of said spices without having to unscrew the entire lid! Eagerly, I whipped out my measuring spoons to determine which would fit best. The 1-tablespoon spoons all worked perfectly with this sifter lid. What an amazing lid! This lid would be perfect for my cinnamon: sometimes I just need a dash, but other times I need a big huge scoop. What versatility!

Just a quick reminder when you are looking for the perfect sifter: be sure to find the appropriate container that will match your sifter. A sales representative can help you determine the perfect match for your sifter.

I've thoroughly measured most of the sifters of Container & Packaging Supply. I hope that this product testing helps you determine which lid is perfect for your needs. Now, back to trying to find new ways to infiltrate that container company (shh, don't tell the boss).
