P.E.T. is E.T.’s alien cousin made of polyethylene terephthalate
p-e-t-is-e-t-s-alien-cousin-made-of-polyethylene-terephthalate
For those of us who survived the 80’s we fell in love with a latex/polyurethane puppet that had an extendable neck, glow-in-the-dark bulbous finger tips, and the capacity to make bicycles fly. This puppet was an alien that got stranded on Earth, and needed help from a pre-teen boy to get back home. You can imagine how this pitch must have sounded to the producers, but … it worked! And E.T. grossed more than triple what it cost to make. Not a bad ROI either.

E.T.’s cousin P.E.T. had a similar experience, only he was a boston round made of polyethylene terephthalate. He didn’t have glow-in-the-dark bulbous finger tips, but he could make pre-teen boys on bicycles fly, as is shown in our parody poster below. We named our film, P.E.T: Polyethylene Terephthalate and Its Adventure on Earth. Kind of catchy, isn’t it?

Visit www.containerandpackaging.com/wallpaper to see ALL 12 of this year’s calendar images as well as images from 2012, 2011, 2010, and 2009.
