Movember: Mustaches spread awareness for cancer research

movember-mustaches-spread-awareness-for-cancer-research
A new gentleman joined our team at the beginning of the month, his name is Dusty. Dusty's gruff and rugged look frightened some in the beginning, but over time his Brawny paper towel lumberjack-like appearance gave way to inspiration and camaraderie. Dusty is the face of Movember, and his mustache is an undying symbol of hope.

The men of CPS have had more on their minds than merely providing exceptional packaging solutions to customers around the world (that is their top priority, of course!) throughout the month of November. They've also been dutifully focused on growing mustaches. Our gang of container outlaws didn't decide to convert to the widespread Mo Bros Movember tradition on a whim, their hearts were in it from the get go.

Movember is a fundraiser for charities that dedicate resources to mens' health initiatives, especially cancers that affect only men, Jeff Rinker, Sales Rep and CPS Movember team leader explains.

The theme of cancer and bringing awareness to men's health inspired many to join the cause. Sales Rep, James Woods said he decided to grow a mustache because, cancer has directly affected my life. Likewise, Executive Vice President, Tyler Craig said he joined the Movember bandwagon because, It was a cause that I really believed in and I knew I couldn't just sit by idly and not do my part to help make the world a better place.

Not everyone participated with such altruistic intentions. Movember gave Sales Rep, Luke Merrill an excuse to grow a mustache, and get away with it by telling his wife it was for cancer awareness. Movember to me was an excuse to be lazy with the razor, Executive Vice President, Ben McCallister shared. “My mustache and beard grew way faster than I had anticipated and I had to trim it multiple times in order to eat my food, Ben added. It seems that slothfulness doesn't always work to our advantage, does it Ben?

No matter the motivation to join the Movember movement, the group of CPS participants shared both Mo Bro trials and Mo Bro triumphs, together. When asked what he learned from the mustache growing experience James said, I don't grow a good one. Sale Rep, Blake Poole admitted, ¦it takes a brave man to wear a stache in public without taking time to explain yourself. His facial hair ruined his Mother's Thanksgiving family photo and drove his son away with fear. That's dedication to the cause.

In honor of Movember 2011's close we honor tolerant wives, children and friends. The office won't be quite the same, without mustache related entertainment circling the cubicles, yet Movember will be upon us once again in no time. Will CPS be back for Movember 2012? Absolutely “ because I hate cancer, Jeff said. Until then, the brave hair-growing group of CPS mustached men will be continually revered. In Blake's words, Mo Bros “ class 2011 “ for life.

Learn more about Movember here!
